A Gentle Guide to Feeling Natural in Front of the Camera

If you’re feeling nervous about posing on your wedding day, know this: you don’t need to “pose” at all to look beautiful. The most flattering photos come from simple, natural movements and quiet moments that I will capture, the wee in-between moments.

But, to start with a very basic guide to holding yourself, to ‘posing’  – Start with your posture. Take a slow breath, relax your shoulders, and imagine a string gently lifting you from the top of your head. Soft posture instantly creates elegance without effort.

Your hands don’t need to do anything complicated. Lightly hold your bouquet, or maybe rest one hand on your waist, or let your fingers swish your dress. Gentle contact gives your hands purpose and keeps them relaxed.

For your face, think calm, not forced smiles. A soft smile, breathe, a peaceful expression, or even looking slightly away from the camera often feels easier and looks more natural. If it helps, think about someone you love or a happy moment from the day.

Movement is your friend. Slowly walk, turn, or sway your dress. Small motions create beautiful photos and help release nervous energy.

Most importantly, trust that you are already enough. I will guide you when needed, and your only job is to breathe, be present, and enjoy the moment the day. Your natural joy will do the rest…
