Celine and Eoghan… wedding at home on the highlands of Glengad, Donegal…
.
Through a strange wee period in history we juggled, and we chatted and planned and somehow it all came together in a blissful, sun drenched carnival of joy. Celine and Eoghan were married, a small ceremony at the idylic Lagg Chapel in Malin, friends and family and music rang through the air. Celine was a bit wobbly on the candle lighting but I’ve been assured she has settled down over recent times. Aren’t people good, aren’t they just great…when they walked down the aisle after the ceremony, the doors opened into a beautiful sight, for under the beautiful Irish sun awaited friends and family and neighbours outside the chapel as a surprise, to wellwish and cheer and share good love with the newlyweds… this was a highlight of my whole year, I yelped, dropped a silent tear, then remembered to photograph them. This simple act of kindness and love filled the air and Celine and Eoghan’s hearts with magic.
.
If you happen to be near Malin Head on your journeys I suggest take a wee wander off the beaten track, there are geographical jewels for miles, places few folk ever set eyes or bare feet upon. Celine and Eoghan did on their wedding day. Blue sky, tranquil sea, cliffs, sea stacks. ‘The Bends of Glengad’, you’ll see in the photos here, possibly the most majestic place I’ve been for a wedding photo, and who knew it even existed but the fishermen of the local community.
.
If you are planning a smaller wedding, perhaps a wedding at home, these photos might be of inspiration. On this day, where the sun shone the day long on the ‘duck egg blue cottage’ of Glengad, a very determined couple, and a very close and loving family group celebrated and created memories into the night. When times are difficult it is inspiring to see that the very best of humanity comes to the fore. This wedding was good medicine for me, it was an experience I hold in my heart and retell for a long time…
